Bypassing the Global Supply Chain

When we founded Freshfurst, we made a radical decision: we would completely bypass cheap, imported fillers like feed-grade corn, soy, and wheat. Instead, we looked to our own backyard.

Davao is one of the most agriculturally rich regions in the world. By sourcing our proteins and vegetables directly from local farmers, we ensure that the ingredients entering our clinical kitchen were harvested or processed just days prior. This means maximum freshness, zero transit degradation, and a direct boost to the local economy.

Kamote vs. Corn

Carbohydrates aren't inherently bad for dogs, but the source of the carbohydrate matters immensely. Commercial kibble uses corn and wheat because they are cheap binders that hold the kibble pellets together. However, these are highly glycemic and often trigger severe skin allergies and yeast infections.

We use locally-grown Kamote (Sweet Potato). It is a complex, slow-release carbohydrate packed with beta-carotene, Vitamin B6, and fiber. It provides sustained metabolic energy without causing the massive insulin spikes associated with dry kibble.
